# Connect Codex to the Fanvue MCP server

> Add the Fanvue MCP server to Codex through mcp-remote in config.toml and authorise it with your Fanvue account.

Codex can read and answer chats, publish posts and read earnings on your Fanvue account. You need a Fanvue creator or agency account, Codex installed, and Node.js for `npx`.

## Connect Codex

<Steps>
  <Step title="Add the server">
    Codex reaches the server through [`mcp-remote`](https://www.npmjs.com/package/mcp-remote). Add it to `~/.codex/config.toml`:

    ```toml title="~/.codex/config.toml" theme={null}
    [mcp_servers.fanvue]
    command = "npx"
    args = ["-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.fanvue.com/mcp"]
    ```
  </Step>

  <Step title="Authorise">
    On first use, `mcp-remote` opens your browser to Fanvue to sign in and allow access.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the connection">
    Ask "How many unread Fanvue chats do I have?". A reply with your unread count means the connection works.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Ask in plain language

Describe what you want and the client picks the tools:

```text wrap theme={null}
How many unread chats do I have, and who are my top spenders this month?
Draft a thank-you message to my top 10 spenders and show it to me before sending
Schedule a post for Friday at 20:00 London time announcing a live stream
Compare my net earnings this month with last month, by source
```

As an agency, name the creator in each request. [Example requests](/docs/mcp-server/examples) has more, grouped by job.

## Review before anything reaches fans

Tools act on your live account. A message reaches the fan, a mass message reaches the whole list, and a post goes live as soon as the tool runs. Ask for a draft first and approve it before the client sends or publishes.

<Warning>
  With `fanvue_mcp:write`, the client can do anything your account can do, including messaging fans, publishing and changing prices. Revoke access at any time in Fanvue under Settings > Account > **Third Party Apps Consent**.
</Warning>

## Disconnect Codex

Delete the `[mcp_servers.fanvue]` block from `~/.codex/config.toml`, then revoke access as described in [Disconnect and revoke](/docs/mcp-server#disconnect-and-revoke).
